Best way to move washer & dryer downstairs?
What's your best way to move washer and dryer to basement from main floor? How many people required? I tried to lift a corner but it is very heavy, I could not.
I live by myself and have 2010 samsung washer + dryer.
How many more guys should I ask to help me and what's the best way to move them?

You can also hire a couple movers if you need to. They will have the proper straps, etc.

And this is probably the best time to call them, before they get real busy with end of month moves.

This looks easy into they tried to move down the stairs.
A lateral move, yes, a vertical move, hard

actually moving with a shoulder strap up/down stairs is not too difficult if you set it up properly.
That's probably a dryer in that pic, because there is no way that lady's forearm can support half the weight of a washer (50% of 240lb+) like that..
Usually the strap goes on the shoulder so your shoulder & leg is supporting the weight. (Think of piggybacking someone 120lbs)
2 average, not unfit guy should be able to move it no problem.
I moved a 240lb washer with my <100lb gf down a flight of stairs before
Also moved a 400lb fridge with a guy up 6 steps of stairs before...

For really heavy furniture and appliances, they have similar straps using your shoulders.

Two guys with straps should do it. I might remove the concrete block out of the washer if easy enough, either way however straps are the way to go.

Any more than 2 guys will be bystanders going down a set of stairs. Either use furniture straps or strap it to a dolly

Home Depot rents out those large furniture dollies...we used it when moving a side x side fridge downstairs...don't think we could have done it with anything else. Also, HD sells those furniture straps, they are quite useful...we used them to move a washer and dryer downstairs but those straps really bruised the son's forearms. I wouldn't attempt to move any large appliance unless you have two strong people to do it.

She might be able to lift a dryer easily with shoulder straps but wouldn't be smiling with those forearm straps.....

I had to move a 4-drawer filing cabinet weighing about 180 lb. down a tight stairwell (no elevator). That's roughly the same weight as a washing machine. We used 4 guys with moving straps to bear the weight, and 2 others helping with guiding, opening doors etc.. It wasn't easy!

Looks like an LG washer in that pic, but they lady has some guns too. Though it's probably a hollow unit.

It's definitely much harder down a flight of stairs, but perfectly do-able with two people.
I'm in my third home and my father and I carried both dryer and washer to the basement ourselves each time.
Delivery guys aren't your typical gym rat and they do it every day, all day, off the truck, down the ramp and into your house.

If I had 9 year old Samsung washer & dryer I would buy new units and have them deliver the new units to the basement and take away the old ones.

I just love fake advertising photos lol. "Look how easy you can pick up and move a dryer with our K-TEL moving straps, order now and get a second one for free, just pay shipping". Any time I have used or seen others using those things, we had them wrapped around our forearms and then also had our hands grabbing on the strap as well. They have no control or leverage on that thing the way those straps are and I can't imagine trying to deal with stairs that way, rather than just going out the side door of a main floor laundry like that is simulating. I think a proper fridge cart with stair climbers is the way to go. 20 or so years ago I bought one of those old style projection 50 inch TV's, easily weighing more than a couple hundred pounds, and the salesman brought it out on a pick up truck, strapped it to the fridge cart and took it into my basement himself.
